FHGC General Meeting Minutes
September 14, 2026
Call to Order: 9:30
Welcome! New Members: Elaine Mielenhausen, Steven Kyle, Lynne Neilson, Rhonda Norheim, Karen Keough, Susan Jenkins, Mary Prudden, and Patti Siehien

Speaker Presentation by Rebecca Taylor from BLOOM! By Taylor Creekside. Cool Flowers, planting in the Fall to promote beautiful flowers in the Spring. Some examples to plant now from seed: snapdragons, daffodils, Ammi Green Mist, Canterbury Bells, and Bupleurum.
Board Reports:
Secretary: June Minutes approved 1st Julie Burrill 2nd Hazle Alcock (All said Aye)
Corrs. Secretary: Cards sent over the summer, condolences to Donna Ross after the passing of her sister and get well wishes to Corrine Burton after her hip surgery.
Treasurer Report: July Balance: $5330.13 August Balance: $5027.49 CD Balance: $4,226.42
**At the suggestion of Membership, The Board will be discussing adding to the Scholarship Fund, due to the amount of money the club has saved in the CD. More information will be shared at the November General Meeting.
Committee Reports:
The Biondis shared there are lots of new items at the Merchandise Table, including aprons and visors with the FHGC logo, and long-sleeve gloves are back!!
Linda Gregg shared the themes for this year’s Raffle Baskets. Tickets will be available for purchase at the October and November General Mtgs, the Comm. Parking Lot Sale, and the Comm. Craft Sale. The funds raised by these baskets go to support our Scholarship Fund. Themes: Game Night, Comfort/Relaxation, Dolly Parton, and a Men’s basket, name TBD.
Carrie Berry reminded us to bring in clippings from our summer clean-up and fall prep of our home gardens to share at the Plant Division table.
Robin Gale explained that the Garden Club has purchased a table at the Community Parking Lot Sale. We are selling items no longer needed, after the summer clean out of the attic space. Members are invited to DONATE up to 5 items (not clothes or furniture), labeled with a sellable price, and dropped off the morning of the sale, Oct. 3rd. Sold items become funds for the Garden Club and items not sold, will be donated to Colonial Capital.
Julie Burrill revealed the theme for our October Pot Luck meeting will be “Tailgating!” A sign up was passed around for members to help with set up/clean up and food. THANK YOU FOR THE OVERWHELMING RESPONE! Barb Fossett also shared that Will Caudle will share what’s happening in the Harbour and then he and his Crew will join us for lunch. We look forward to seeing you on Oct. 12th!

• October Potluck – Next Meeting – October 12, Harbour Club Cape Lookout Rm.
• Tour of Rebecca’s Creekside Farm – October 19th 500 Duck Pond Rd. (Off of BroadCreek by the Fuel Mart) 10:45 tour begins, then a demonstration of Ranunculus and Anemones to follow at Noon.
• Craft Fair – November 7, 8am – 1pm – Community Center Parking Lot
Congratulations to our Door Prize winners: Karen Keough and Nancy Zetelski each won an Umbrella plant and Rebecca Taylor raffled off one of her CSA buckets full of fall blooms: Charlene Treubert was the luck recipient!
All Members (or pairs) are welcome to sign up for Rebecca’s CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) Fall Flower Buckets starting Sept. 21st. You will receive a total of 5 buckets, one every 2 weeks, in a 10 week timeframe. Delivery will be on Mondays, location TBD. Next Meeting: Oct. 12th at the Harbour Club in the Cape Look Out Rm. Starting at 9:30, come join us as we listen to Will Caudle update us about the planting and maintenance happening around the Harbour and then stay to enjoy a fun Tailgate themed Pot Luck!!
