Fairfield Harbor Garden Club General Meeting Minutes

April 14 th , 2025

The Fairfield Harbor Garden Club met at the pavilion in the Latham Whitehurst Nature Park for a combined General Meeting and FHGC Field Trip.

President Barbara Paulsen called the meeting to order at 9:30 am. She thanked members for coming out to this venue and welcomed visitors.

The February General Meeting Minutes was published on the Website and on behalf of Secretary Yvonne Meissner, Barbara asked for a motion of approval. (Maury Thompson/Ginger Thompson) which was carried.

Eileen Wagner reported that at the end of March 2025, there was a balance of $5,113.84 in the checkbook.

Kathy has 31 members that have signed up for the May 6th Garden Club Day Trip to Carolina Home and Garden in Newport. Today was the deadline to sign up for participation. Barbara emphasized that members who had signed up for the trip would be responsible for the $25.00 fee as the Club has committed to a 30 person
participation. Anyone needing to cancel need to do so by May 1 st .

The Spring Tea that was held on March 21th was enjoyed by all who attended.

Jan Reitzel will set a date for the clay pot cleaning day as soon as weather and schedules permit. She will contact all volunteers when a date has been determined.

The Nominating Committee is accepting nominations for the Board of Directors for the 2025-2026 year. Members may contact Kathy Hallquist if they would like to make a nomination. At the May General Meeting members will be given the opportunity to make a nomination from the floor and vote.

The next General Meeting will be on May 12th .

The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 am.

Dr. Tom Glasgow, led members through
trails within the park, picked groundcover, ferns and pointed to trees to inform members of their significance. Accompanied with a hand-out, members enjoyed his appreciation of Nature. Members all learned a lot and enjoyed this outing on a beautiful sunny day.
