FAIRFIELD HARBOUR GARDEN CLUB GENERAL MEETING

November 11th, 2024

The president, Barbara Paulsen called the meeting to order at 9:35 am.
There was an attendance of 43 members. Marcia Werneke introduced guest Janet Burger and our new member Susan Spirko. Both were welcomed.

This year’s Yearbook was handed out to the members present.

Our speaker Ethel Hess presented “Gardening in our Senior Years” to everyone’s delight.

On behalf of the Nominating Committee, Phyllis informed the members that they had nominated Sharon Nash for the position of Assistant Treasurer. She asked for any other nominations from the floor. There were none upon which she asked the members to vote for their nominee. Sharon was voted in unanimously.

Secretary Yvonne Meissner informed the members that the October General Meeting minutes had been posted on the web site and asked for approval of the minutes. There was a motion (Kathy Fuller/Lucille Durst) which was carried.

Treasurer Eileen Wagner reported that there is a balance of $3212.58 in the check book as of October 31th , 2024.

The Tupperware Fundraiser brought in $119.10.
Jan Reitzel reported on the income from the Scarecrow Contest. Raffle tickets amounted to $126.50 and pumpkin sales $28.00. The winners of the Scarecrows were Sherri Buren, Anne Gehlsen and Mike and Ann McDougall.

Pam Dion informed the members of the YOM winners. Chip and Mary Swann at 5018 Bucko Reef. She urged members to do a drive by.

Barbara informed the members that Carrie Berry will be hosting the Pinecone Bird Feeder making event on November 20th in the Activity Center.
Minta Fannon is chairing the Christmas Parade on December 1st and Minta made an appeal to members to join in the parade with decorated carts, bikes and or their walking selves.

Jane Haeussler will be decorating the Community Center Christmas tree on December 2nd or 3rd and is looking for a helping hand.

Barbara gave the members a run-down of upcoming events and received approval for some changes for the President’s luncheon in June.

Kathy Hallquist has organized the Day Trip to Carolina Home and Gardens in Newport for May 6th . There will be a presentation at 11:30 followed by a lunch at a cost of $25.00. Members will
have the opportunity to arrange their individual car pools at the April General Meeting.

Jan and Paula are planning another Tea Party in the Spring.

Linda Gregg and Janet Jonah had their beautifully arranged Raffle Baskets on display at the meeting. Ticket sales brought in $497.00 and they were raffled off at the end of the meeting.

Lucille had three African Violets in pink, white and blue that were raffled off for door prizes. Lucky winners Marcia Werneke, Kathy Fuller and Minta Fannon took them home.
Kathy Hallquist was the winner of the Tupperware Raffle that Eileen held for those that had purchased items for the Tupperware Fundraiser. She received a lovely picnic basket.

There was a motion to adjourn at 11:01 am (Paula Haze/Lucille Durst) the Ayes carried the motion.

The next FHGC General Meeting will be January 13th , 2025.
