Fairfield Harbor Garden Club General Meeting Minutes
June 9th, 2025
President Barbara Paulsen called the meeting to order at 9:40 am.
She led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America.
She welcomed new member Barbara Fossett and guests Shelley Skinner and Storey Skinner our Scholarship Award winner.
The May General Meeting Minutes was published on the Website and Secretary Yvonne Meissner asked for a motion of approval (Mary Harouni/Hazel Alcock) which was carried.
Eileen Wagner reported that at the end of May 2025, there was a balance of $5,127.02 in the checkbook. All moneys received for membership renewal will be deposited after the end of July to be reflected in the 2025-2026 fiscal year. Barbara shared with the members that the Club was doing well with more income than expenditures.
Kathy Hallquist reported that she had sent a Thank You note to Rick Reitzel for his presentation at the May General Meeting, Get Well cards to Lucille Durst, Paula Zimmerman and Pam Dion; and a Thinking of You card to Pat Lepera-Manfredi.
Jan Reitzel has set a date for the clay flowerpot painting to be held at Red Sail Park on Monday the 16th of June at 1:00 pm. She has 103 cleaned clay pots ready for decoration, and will be for sale at the FH Craft Fair in the Fall as a fundraiser.
Barbara thanked all members that had volunteered on various committees and events that were held during the past year. There was a special thank you to the two outgoing Board Members for their service. She appealed to members to sign up for Committees with sign up sheets on the table.
Hazel Alcock led the Board in their “Instellation of Officers” and presented Storey Skinner with her Scholarship Award. She will be studying Entomology at ECU.
There was a drawing of the 50/50 fundraiser. The Club shared $73.00 with Mary Harouni.
The next General Meeting will be on September 8, 2025.
The meeting was adjourned (Robin Gale/Susan Spirko) at 10.20 am after which the members enjoyed bagels, muffins, fruit salad, coffee and juice whilst watching a slide show of past year’s FHGC special moments.
